๐ฌ Purpose of SEHSS
SEHSS encourages students to develop a deep understanding of scientific concepts, logical thinking and original problem solving abilities rather than focusing only on memorization.
๐ About IAPT
The Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT), founded in 1984, is a voluntary organization with thousands of members working towards improving science education and conducting prestigious science examinations in India.
Eligibility
SEHSS is an inclusive examination that provides an opportunity for every young science enthusiast to challenge themselves irrespective of age, board or school system.
โ Who Can Appear?
- Students of Class 10 are especially encouraged.
- Students of Class 9 and Class 8 may also appear.
- There is no age restriction.
- Students from CBSE, ICSE, State Boards, Open Schools and International Boards are eligible.
- Any student willing to accept the challenge of scientific learning may participate.
โ Who Is Not Eligible?
- Students who have already passed Class 10 are not eligible.
- The examination is intended only for Class 10 and lower classes.
Examination Pattern
SEHSS tests conceptual understanding, analytical ability and scientific reasoning rather than memorization. The examination is conducted on an OMR sheet and covers Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics with equal importance.

The syllabus of SEHSS is based on the CBSE curriculum for Class 10 and lower classes with a strong emphasis on NCERT textbooks. Equal importance is given to Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics.

Five Zonal System & OCSE Science Camp
SEHSS provides a unique opportunity for outstanding students to participate in the prestigious Orientation Camp for Science Excellence (OCSE), where young scientific minds interact, learn and grow together.

For the purpose of recognition and selection for advanced scientific activities, the country is divided into five zones:

๐ Selection for OCSE
Based on the SEHSS performance, the top 25 students from each zone are selected for the Orientation Camp for Science Excellence (OCSE).
These students represent the highest level of achievement in SEHSS and receive the opportunity to participate in an advanced science learning environment.
๐๏ธ 10-Day Residential OCSE Camp
The Orientation Camp for Science Excellence is a fully residential academic camp where selected students interact with experienced teachers and fellow science enthusiasts.
- Duration of 10 days

Awards, Certificates & Recognition
Every level of achievement in SEHSS is recognized and rewarded to encourage excellence in science.
Centre Top 10%
The top 10% students at each examination centre receive an online certificate which can be downloaded and printed.
State Top 1%
Outstanding students in the top 1% at the state level receive the prestigious State Topper Certificate.
National Top 1%
National-level achievers receive a merit certificate along with a book prize.
๐ OCSE Participants
Every student selected for the Orientation Camp for Science Excellence receives a special certificate of Academic Excellence and a medal as a Zonal Topper.
๐ฐ Top 3 Students in Each OCSE
The three best-performing students in each OCSE camp receive a cash prize along with a special Merit Certificate of Academic Excellence.

Students are advised to regularly check the official IAPT announcements for the latest schedule, registration dates and examination-related notifications.
Online Registration
Registration for SEHSS is conducted online through the official IAPT examination portal. Students should complete their registration within the announced registration window.
Examination Schedule
SEHSS is generally conducted in November, approximately one week after NSEJS. The examination duration is 2 hours 30 minutes.
Results & Score Cards
The score card is published online after the declaration of results. Students can download their score card from the official portal.
